EXPERIENCE

Steve originally trained and practiced as a loss adjuster in London, becoming the youngest ever qualified Chartered Adjuster by examination, in 1985.

Since arriving in Australia in 1988, Steve has held senior management and technical positions with Crawford and GAB Robins, including a role as Global Risks Manager for the Region. In May 2004, he started Technical Assessing Victoria, based in Melbourne.

Steve specialises in ISR, construction material damage and government claims. In particular, he is personally nominated on the worldwide programs of several major building contractors and on specific construction and infrastructure projects. He is also the preferred adjuster for certain government departments and/or their insurance programs.

International and Australian claims investigations conducted by Steve include several significant product recall/liability matters, cancellation of high profile sporting/artistic events, new road failures, the Port Arthur massacre and damage to Commonwealth Government property in Antarctica. He also receives regular instructions to assist in the quantification of litigated matters.

CURRENT FOCUS

Steve is principally involved in sensate property and major construction claims, including advance loss of profits.

EXPERIENCE

Paul has 32 years experience as a loss adjuster, commencing in Melbourne in 1977. He has worked in Darwin, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart.In Darwin, Paul was responsible for the construction and engineering claims during the establishment of the Ranger Uranium Mine.

Over the last 20 years Paul has specialised in construction and engineering claims under both property and liability covers, handling losses involving high rise buildings, sewerage plants, ocean outfall pipelines, earthmoving and timber harvesting machinery and plant, tailings dams, wharfs, concrete and roads.

Paul has also investigated a large range of claims including professional indemnity claims involving architects, engineers, consultants and local government officers. He has also been involved in many major product liability and product recall claims.

CURRENT FOCUS

Paul continues his focus on providing detailed analysis of circumstances, cause and quantum on all matters involving construction, engineering, public & products liability and professional indemnity.

EXPERIENCE

David has been a practicing loss adjuster since 1995, working for a series of major adjusting firms until joining Technical Assessing in 2011.  Between 2008 and 2011 he was a member of Cerno's Expertise Division, specialising in construction claims.  He has been heavily involved in claims arising out of national disaster events such as Cyclone Larry, the Newcastle earthquake, McKay floods and 2009 Victorian bushfires. 

CURRENT FOCUS

David continues to specialize in building and construction claims, particularly matters arising under construction material damage and liability policies.  Increasingly, David is involved in detailed building investigations in relation to professional indemnity matters.

Allan joined Technical Assessing in 2009 after seven years of loss adjusting and insurance industry experience.  He previously worked on major catastrophes including the Melbourne Storms (December 2003), Cyclone Larry Innisfail (March 2006), Newcastle floods (June 2007) and Lismore floods (October 2007). 

CURRENT FOCUS

Since joining Technical Assessing, Allan continues to provide expert and timely loss adjusting services on ISR and contract works material damage claims for local and international insurers as well as government authorities. 

Allan is also developing marine surveying skills with a focus on commercial cargo claims and is completing marine surveying studies with the Australian Maritime College (Diploma of Marine Surveying).

EXPERIENCE

Ian joined Technical Assessing in 2008 as a Specialist Liability Loss Adjuster after 30 years Loss Adjusting and Claims Management experience.  After leaving Mercantile Mutual in 1986 as a Claims Manager and Assistant Fire Claims Manager (MMI Vic) he commenced liability  loss adjusting with N.A. McLean & Associates.  In 1994 he established Ian Storey & Associates Pty Ltd and from 2001 to 2008 was engaged by Freemans as a contractor, involved in major liability claims and part of the Major Loss Team (Liability).

From  1988 to 2001 Ian was a Victorian Councilor for the Australian Institute of Loss Adjusters, holding positions of Secretary, Vice President and Acting President.  In 2001 he was a National Director of the Australian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters. 

Since 1987, as a specialist Liability Loss Adjuster, Ian has been appointed to many major claims involving liability issues including the Burnley Tunnel disaster and fire in the Safe Concordia Oil Maintenance Platform.  Ian specialises in liability losses within the corporate world including relationships with large deductible clients, which includes Fulton Hogan and Leighton Constructions who operate in the construction and civil engineering business.  He has also been engaged by clients such as Coles Myer Ltd and Australian Safeway Stores. 

As a former member of the Freemans Major Loss Team, Ian was involved in catastrophe management and was seconded to Cairns Queensland as part of the Cyclone Larry response team.  As a former Claims Manager for MMI he was involved in the Ash Wednesday fire of 1982 for claims management of both domestic and commercial losses as well as liaising with the Emergency Response Loss Adjusting Team (covering all member underwriters). 

CURRENT FOCUS

Ian nurtures relationships with most major Underwriters, Broking Houses and Law Firms.  He remains heavily involved in loss adjusting major liability matters as well as continuing involvement in insurance industry activities through the Australian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters.

EXPERIENCE

Tulay joined Technical Assessing in 2012 after over eight years of insurance broking experience. She commenced her career in reinsurance broking in Turkey. After returning to Australia, she has worked for two of the largest broking firms in the areas of corporate broking, risk profiling and insolvency. She has also managed the insurance program of a large University.

CURRENT FOCUS

Tulay will be concentrating on first and third party claims where she can utilise her engineering expertise. She will also develop risk management and survey products for insurers, brokers, government and corporate clients.

EXPERIENCE

Karl was born in Australia and educated in Ireland. He began his legal training at University College Dublin obtaining an honours law degree in 2004. After completion of his university studies, he worked in the litigation department of a multinational insurance company in Dublin. He handled litigated matters only including serious motor claims and workplace fatalities.

In 2006, he commenced his professional legal training with the Law Society of Ireland and qualified as a solicitor in 2009. Upon qualification, he worked on the major casualty accounts team of a leading global insurer where he was responsible for a large and diverse range portfolio of complex liability claims. He has experience handling product liability claims, public liability, occupiers’, employers’ liability, long-tail and short-tail disease claims and cases involving cross-border litigation. Karl worked closely with self-insured clients, including multinationals and some of Ireland's leading companies.

Before returning to Australia last year, Karl practised for a number of years as a specialist insurance litigation solicitor in Dublin. He was instructed to defend all types of liability claims by major insurers, loss adjusters and semi-state bodies. He was also instructed to act in commercial and workplace disputes.

CURRENT FOCUS

Karl's core focus is complex liability claims. Aware of the commercial realities of modern business, Karl proactively manages claims and provides finely-tuned strategic advice throughout the process. As a lawyer and problem solver, he provides clients with specialist advice on all aspects of liability claims and policy coverage.

EXPERIENCE

Meredith joined Technical Assessing in 2016 after more then 25 years of experience within the insurance and loss adjusting industries. She has vast experience in medium/large domestic and commercial claims as well as being involved in various major catastrophes including the Newcastle Floods (2007), Black Saturday Bushfire (2009), Melbourne Hail Storm (2010/11) and Queensland Floods (2011).

FOCUS

Since joining Technical Assessing, Meredith continues to provide expert and timely loss adjusting services on utilities liability claims, medium/large commercial property claims, high net worth domestic claims and Body Corporate Strata.
