EXPERIENCE

Nick has some 24 years experience in loss adjusting and currently manages the day-to-day operations in Tasmania for Technical Assessing which comprises two offices and four staff.

Nick has worked for major loss adjusting companies in North Queensland, Brisbane, Sydney and Tasmania.

Nick specialises in construction, engineering and liability claims with a heavy focus on mining and construction equipment with many of his clients London-based including Lloyds.

Nick also handles losses in Antarctica for the Commonwealth Government insurance scheme. These principally involve fuel oil spillages resulting in contamination of land. Rehabilitation involves long-term bio remediation.

Nick's experience and expertise sees him regularly appointed to claims in the Agriculture, Viticulture and Aquaculture industries. He travels widely across Australia to handle claims for Specialist Underwriters.

Nick's current focus is two-fold:

  • Developing the Tasmanian operations,
  • Ensuring high-level loss adjusting services to local and international clients.

EXPERIENCE

After graduating from the University of Tasmania, Louise commenced legal practice in Sydney in 1997.  She gained experience across a breadth of areas including commercial, building and construction, land and environment, corporations law, intellectual property, personal injury and debt recovery matters.

Louise then moved from general practice to Maurice Blackburn where she worked on 2 class actions, including the hearing of a significant test case in the Federal Court.  She acted on behalf of over 200 plaintiffs in their claims against medical practitioners, hospitals and international pharmaceutical companies.

In 2000 Louise returned to her native Tasmania and joined Hunt & Hunt, becoming a partner in 2007 and co-head of the insurance litigation group.  She has extensive experience in liability claims including property damage, public liability, occupiers liability, professional indemnity, building and construction, motor vehicle accidents, workers’ compensation and contractual disputes.  Her experience in personal injuries matters includes catastrophic claims.

In respect to building and construction, Louise has specialist expertise in Security of Payments legislation.  She is also a nationally accredited Mediator and has mediated a wide range of matters including workplace, business / commercial, contractual, local government, lease and community disputes.

CURRENT FOCUS

Louise’s focus is on liability claims including all aspects of policy interpretation, investigation, cause analysis and quantification.  Client’s benefit from Louise’s  analytical and strategic approach in the collection and assessment of information and the pursuit of positive results.

EXPERIENCE

Rob was a practising Barrister and Solicitor, gaining extensive experience in prosecutions/litigation before joining an international loss adjusting practice in 1995.  Since then, Rob has investigated and reported on a wide range of employment and liability related events, acting for organisations serving all parts of the community.

Some of his selected assignments are:

  • Fatal accidents at various workplaces – factories and mines
  • Fatal accidents at sea
  • Fatal accidents on roadways
  • Serious workplace injury on dock
  • Serious workplace injury involving rock crusher
  • Property damage – dam failures

In recent years, Rob has developed a broad client base involving insurance and non-insurance related work.  As part of his insurance related practice, Rob specialises in the investigation of complex workers’ compensation, legal liability (product, public and professional), motor vehicle, and marine claims (including transit, hull and liability). Rob has gained extensive experience in the investigation of material damage and personal injury claims, including the investigation of fatal accidents and serious personal injury.

As a practicing Loss Adjuster for some 20 years, Rob is committed to providing local, national and international clients with a high level of service combined with his legal expertise.

EXPERIENCE

Michael is a Chartered Loss Adjuster and past President of the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters.

Michael has practiced as a loss adjuster for 26 years. Prior to joining Technical Assessing, he was a Licensee and National Director of McLarens Young International, Australia, owning and successfully managing offices in country NSW and Tasmania.

Michael had previously worked in the accounting industry with David Jones retailer after leaving school and was a detective with the ACT Police and Australian Federal Police, specialising in fraud investigation.

He has successfully managed a wide variety of insurance claims, from multiple total loss domestic dwellings to total commercial losses, well exceeding the million dollar range.

Michael was involved in Adjusting losses following the Myer fire incident in Tasmania, handling construction and Business Interruption losses. Michael has travelled to work on catastrophe claims; two memorable were the hailstorm claims in Brisbane and the Canberra fires.

Michael is a past President of AICLA, a former Director of AICLA, and was Division Chair of AICLA Tasmania on two separate occasions. Michael is currently on the Claims Factuality Advisory Board of ANZIIF. He was a Southern Tasmania Regional Director of Crime Stoppers for 11 years, representing the Insurance Industry on several occasions in this capacity in crime prevention matters.

EXPERIENCE

Following a career as an army officer Steve practiced as a Barrister and Solicitor, accumulating experience in prosecutions/litigation including workplace safety, consumer affairs, environmental breaches and electoral offences, for ten years before joining an international logistics organisation in 2009 and dealing with investigations into breaches of ethics and compliance in relation to the relationship between the Afghan Government and international contractors supporting NATO and the US Forces

Steve returned to Australia in 2011 and later worked as a senior analyst for the Tasmanian Government investigation into child sexual abuse within the institutional environment in support of the Royal Commission examining such abuses.

Steve has experience in the structure of both public and private organisations along with an understanding of the expected conduct and behaviour of employees engaged is such organisations. He has developed broad experience involving work in the investigation and analysis of procedural non-compliance and offences along with associated breaches of codes of conduct in both sectors.

Chris is a Ship and Engineer Surveyor of more than 40 years experience both in Private Practice and as a Non Exclusive Surveyor to Lloyds Register, Germanischer Lloyd, American Bureau of Shipping and Bureau Veritas, more recently as a Marine Surveyor for Marine and Safety Tasmania and AMSA.Chris has previously been employed as a sea going Engineer Officer for both overseas and Australian shipping companies.He has successfully managed a family owned Marine and General Engineering Business as well as his own Engineering Wholesale business and private Marine Surveying practice.He has experience in all facets of Marine Surveying including classification surveys, statutory and periodical surveys, hull and machinery damage and repair surveys, towing and lashing surveyors, vessel and machinery condition surveys, on/off hire vessel surveys, under construction surveys and pre shipment inspections of various commodities.

EXPERIENCE

Prior to graduating from the University of Tasmania James was a Navy Clearance Diver. Following graduation he became a Naval Legal Officer and continued in this role performing various Naval investigations and providing advice to Naval Command on legal matters.In 2005 James commenced working as an Occupational Health and Safety professional in the construction industry and thereafter worked on major oil and gas capital projects (offshore and onshore) across  Australia and overseas specialising in HSE (Health Safety and Environment) roles.

CURRENT FOCUS

James is developing a role in investigation and settlement of liability, construction and engineering claims.  His ultimate focus is to develop a role in dealing with onshore and offshore oil and gas industry claims.James is currently studying to attain his Diploma in Loss Adjusting, having commenced with Technical Assessing in Tasmania in 2016
